There's something uniquely British about this British roads site. For some reason I found myself getting excited by the Motorway simulator that's under construction. It might be best if I have a lie down now.

Dusso mainly creates matte backgrounds for films (LOTR, Dungeons and Dragons) and also 3D stuff (Gattaca, Titan AE). Brilliant work in his portfolio along with some personal work (scifi fantasy). Also there is a section dedicated to a small short that he has created, Hangar 7, a scifi/WWII film. Link lifted from k10k. posted at 1:52 PM by Carlton | permalink
Crushed have revamped their site. They include a section called "Featured artists" which at the moment only holds one person. However they have featured many other artists in the past, if only more grpahic design sites would do this. posted at 12:55 PM by Carlton | permalink

It has been suggested that in the near future we will be living for much longer. Although whether you wish to live another hundred years as a bladderless, deaf and blind bag of wrinkles and liver spots is another thing altogether. Wow, there's not many people around who would think of Hugh Hefner as a Superhero. Apart from the armed services, that is. However it looks like we'll soon be seeing the Blonde-and-Busty loving publisher in a new TV adult cartoon. Also another shock is that Stan Lee is involved. I shan't be watching of course. posted at 12:06 PM by Carlton | permalink

My mate Cavan Scott - writer of several Dr. Who audio cds - has just pointed me in the direction of Modern Pulp. Cue endless comic discussions between the two of us, which will no doubt bore the pants off everyone we know. I'm beginning to wonder when the spin doctors will finally come up with a new strategy for hiding the misinformation that led to the latest Gulf War. Blix thinks that Blair built his case for war on shaky ground. My best bet is that the Masters of Spin™ will come up with an excuse along the lines of..."The reason we could not find WMDs in Iraq is because we now believe the entire country to be a WMD". Why can't the politicians stop pointing the finger at each other and start taking positive steps towards the rebuilding of this devestated country?

This explosion shows the July 4th celebrations of the US army in Iraq. They basically fired a bunch of missiles at an abandoned iraqi tank and took photos of the result. However, to my eye, the picture posted on Ananova looks like it has been photo-manipulated. The explosion looks too much like a Hollywood effect than a real explosion - there's too much colour and lens-flare involved. Usually real life explosions are more smoke and very little bang. Maybe its just me and my jaded eyes but something doesn't quite ring true. Remember PR is everywhere. posted at 2:28 PM by Carlton | permalink

Just decided to start blogrolling as you may be able to see from the left column. I've been resisting the temptation of linking to absolutely every bloglink scheme I come across. However I've finally succumbed - but will keep the lists to a minimum. I guess I got fed up of always having to rebuild my template each time I wanted to link to someone. What I've decided to do is keep my art and general info links as styled (with a clicky purple box button to the left of the site name) and just add blogs to the blogroll. Simple really. posted at 12:46 PM by Carlton | permalink

Imagine a conversation between a shopkeeper and a customer:
S: Excuse me ma'am, can I ask if you are chatting on that phone or merely ripping me off? C: I'm choosing a new hairstyle, silly. I want my friends verdict. S: In that case ma'am, would you care to come with me and talk to these nice police officers...
