I dragged my sorry ass back home last night to finish painting our "Sun Room" aka the lean-to. I flicked on the radio to fill the silence and found myself listening to the all new Download Chart. Having read somewhere that the Pixies had topped the test run of the chart some months ago, I thought I might actually get to hear some decent music. As the chart counted down I realised that the music industry machine had been at work. The air turned blue when they anounced the first number one to be a live track by Westlife. As Gary Marshall points out, it seems the bigwigs have been releasing tracks just for this week in an effort to be the first number one. Trust Simon Cowell to be top of the heap. Westlife! Pixies? Now *that* would have been worth tuning in for.
