WPT Poker magazine issue 28

I've been so snowed under recently that I've been unable to update you on our latest issues. Well let me fix it by pointing out our latest corker of an issue. Cover star Liv Boeree kindly gave up some of her hectic schedule to do an exclusive photoshoot for us. The results were great as you can see. We recently went to a recording session of a Pokerstars televised event. We had a bundle of these copies with us and they barely saw the light of day before many interested parties whisked them away for closer inspection.
So get one while you can. Inside we profile her career as well as get her to interview Andy Black.
In this issue you'll find articles on:
- Barry Carter tells us of his experiences playing a televised event.
- How to play Omaha if you're a main game is Texas Hold'em
- Carl Sampson relays a tale of his past on the backstreet poker circuit
- Tips to keep that ego in check when chasing a pot
- Is it a good idea to sit at a cash table for only half the max buy-in
Dash down to WHSmith right now.
Illustration wise,
John Bradley provides the artwork for backstreet poker feature.

Image manipulation
Here's a job where I had to come up with an image for a feature about poker variance. Each element in this image was shot separately. This wasn't on purpose they just happened to be stock shots that I had in my library that fitted the bill. I think I've managed to piece them together fairly seamlessly. The bullet holes are an added element in Photoshop.

World Poker Tour mag: Issue 12

With a pre-Christmas trip to Vegas and the festive season all rolling into one, I've been a bit lax on promoting our latest issue. So here it is...
Incidentally my trip to the US was to bag a bunch of poker professionals during the Five Diamond Poker tournament. We had photoshoots with about a dozen top players, Doyle Brunson, David Williams, and Liz Lieu amongst them. It was a great experience, and the shots will feature as covers in the coming months.
Features in this bulging issue include:
- Raise it! New Year's resolutions to make you a winning player.
- Coverage of the WPT tournaments held at Las Vegas and Niagara Falls.
- Dan Harrington: King of Poker
- How to use the WPT Academy's toolkit to become a super-tight shark
- Play like Roland de Wolfe

World Poker Tour mag: Issue 11

A trip to Cardiff doesn't normally fill me with joy, so when Ian, my editor, suggested a photoshoot there I didn't exactly whoop for joy. However it was to meet up with a guy called
Antonio Esfandiari. He met us whilst filming a TV event and was very willing to entertain our ideas for the shoot. Anyway our photographer, Jesse Wilde, bagged a whole sackload of shots for us to work with. Once I'd chosen the winning shot I got
Chris Stocker on the case to do the image manipulations I wanted to make. He added the magical element to what became this months front cover image. I'm really pleased with the result (and so is Antonio!). It's a really great package this issue.
Features include:
- Predicting opponents hands by the strength of their bet
- Antonio gives us some insights to how he plays
- How newbies can avoid becoming easy prey to the sharks
- How our staff writer Nick Wright won nearly $15,000 in the Ultimate Poker Classic in Aruba
- Profile of Evelyn Ng
Illustrators appearing in this issue are
Aaron Minier,
Tom Hughes and little old me.
