Patterns: Call for entries

My side project Patterns for Colouring has started to feature patterns from specially invited illustrators and designers. So far Ben the Illustrator, Matt Lyon and David Lyttleton have been added to the library, with more to come. I think the concept is working really well and would like to extend the invitation to the wider creative community. If you feel you'd like to produce colouring pages for children then please check out the sites submission page.

Patterns: Call for entries

The word is getting around about Patterns for Colouring and its getting featured on other sites like Creative Boom (pictured), Parent Dish (which is where I found the link to Marshall Alexander, below) and even Holy Moly - quite a broad audience footprint there! I've also seen it mentioned on a few parenting forums and moneysavingexpert.com. Design sites that have featured it include ColourLovers and Ideafixa. If you have any ideas of what sites I should target please let me know.
I'm currently planning to add guest-generated patterns by leading designers/illustrators to the growing library. I've had some excellent feedback so far. If you are a talented creative and think you should be included in this project, get in touch and I'll give you more details.

100+ free colouring patterns

Its update time in the land of patterns. My free CC pattern site now has over 100 high resolution images. I'm getting some great feedback from sites like Geekdad, Colourlovers, and Ideafixa who have all linked to the pattern blog recently. It would be great to spread the word even further so that children and adults can all get experimenting and learning about colour.

75 patterns and counting

My pattern blog is building up quite a collection of downloadable images. I've just uploaded the 75th pattern. They are all free for you to use (as long as you abide by the Creative Commons license on the site). All of the patterns are A4 in size and are aimed at kids to print out and colour in. I'm aiming to hit the 100 image mark soon.

40 free patterns

I've just uploaded the fortieth free pattern to my other blog. All of the patterns on that site are for downloading, printing out and colouring in. I'm aiming to have 100 patterns uploaded soon, I just have to get around to creating them! The patterns are mostly based on simple geometric shapes but I may branch out into more figurative areas at some point. Remember all of the patterns are protected by a Creative Customs license. Update time

Just dropping by to say there's a couple of new pieces in my portfolio. This book is just a little drop-in image I produced for the recent redesign of WPT Poker magazine. Its been absolutely chaotic at Carlton Towers recently with work coming out of my ears. I've even been missing out on plugging the mag.

Design portfolio

My design portfolio has finally launched. It will work as a sister site to this one and will contain a good healthy chunk of all of my design work from the last 13 years. There's quite a lot of stuff in there at the moment but I'm working on even more. Head over to the design galleries to see more. I have also started a new design blog which will run in tandem to this one, so bookmark both blogs to get the full picture.

Image manipulation

Here's a job where I had to come up with an image for a feature about poker variance. Each element in this image was shot separately. This wasn't on purpose they just happened to be stock shots that I had in my library that fitted the bill. I think I've managed to piece them together fairly seamlessly. The bullet holes are an added element in Photoshop.

Red Nose update 3

Lenny Henry Red Nose Day illustration

I've produced an illustration of one of the main Red Nose Day presenters, Lenny Henry. I've printed this out as an A2 poster. I'll be listing it on ebay next week but I wanted to let people know about it beforehand. I'll post a link to the auction once it goes live. At the moment it is in the hands of his agent so that I can get it signed by the good man himself. I'll also be listing an auction in which I'll be offering custom illustrations in the same style to whoever wants one. So if you've got a photo of a favourite loved one, fluffy pet, or jar of pickles that you want translated into the medium of large dots on photo-quality paper, get bidding! After all, it's all for charity.

My designs

I've started to populate my Flickr account with some design work from the last decade. Its mainly from my work on Future magazines. I have added descriptions to all of them just yet - that takes an age. Anyway, feel free to have a nose through them all. There's quite a few layouts that feature some images from top class illustrators - Insect, Twelveten, Richard May, Identikal to name but a few.
