David Apatoff is obviously someone with a great wealth of knowledge about illustration in the previous century. Luckily he has gifting an awful lot of that knowledge to us through his blog. It has been picked up as one of Blogger's 'Blogs of Note' and is undoubtedly enjoying a peak in traffic. It's great to see the skills of latter day artists - they leave a lot of todays illustrators in the dust. It's much in the same vein as Today's Inspiration and is a welcome addition to my blogroll.Labels: blog, comics, illustration

Just found this blog of minkee's work. Troble is there's no "about me..." info in there, so I've no idea who or what Minkee is! There are a lot of great images on there - mainly sketches, roughs and experiments. This is one blog to keep an eye on. If you're watching Minkee - post a bio.Labels: illustration

Not knowing much about German, I'm taking a bit of a stab at understanding this page on Slanted. Type the sky is a university project by Lisa Reinerman. It involves a photography/typography project where she's basically looked up and shot the skyline to make out letterforms. I've had to rely on a babelfish translation to understand the text, but I think that photoshop hasn't played too big a part in forming these. It's very effective and the packaging she's produced for the piece looks great.Labels: design, photography, typography

It's great to see someone you've commissioned in the past going on to great things. Gavin is a guy who always seems so enthusiastic about being creative - puts an old cynic like me to shame. You only have to dip in to his blog for a short time to see how much energy/projects/geekery he possesses. Well the news that he couldn't quite keep to himself is that he landed himself a spot on the Apple Pro site. Here's to the unstoppable conveyorbelt of ideas that is Jam Factory! Well done Gavin.
