Not long ago I got the book Loads More Lies to Tell Small Kids as a present. It's great fun, well drawn, with plenty of great insights into what its like to be a parent. I found myself immediately giving my sons slightly untrue answers to their persistent questions after reading this. They swallowed them up wholesale! The author Andy Riley gets top marks.Labels: books, funny, illustration

I found this community of student artists on myspace and swiftly "added" them. The founders are people I've been aware of for a while and the project seemed like a pretty fine idea. They are Tom Judd and James Chambers. Tom is an illustrator/animator whom I've seen in various places including Computer Arts - in fact he seems so familiar I've got a feeling I may have used him at some time. James is a graphic/web designer. Anyway, I love places like 5oup because they are full of new faces with new ideas and styles. Whenever I find myself pouring through books like Contact for the bazillionth time its great to rummage through a site like 5oup. You might not always come up with the person you want to commission, but you always find yourself coming up with something new.

Sean Rodwell has updated his already impressive portfolio with a sack full of artwork. He's put up some of the artwork he did for me on .net. There's plenty of his bubble style illustrations like this butterfly (see thumbnail left). Great site.
