I've been keeping my bookmarks on del.icio.us for a good while now. I've been on a bit of a splurge lately so I'm linking you to my illustration tags to show you some of the artists that have caught my eye recently. James Mayall (artwork left) is the latest addition to the bunch and is quite a find.

Its about time I blogged up Mr Hammond for your consideration. TBFH (as he's known to his mates) is an extremely prolific crayonist producing work for a huge variety of clients - me being one of 'em. His style is very unique with a penchant for sagging breasts and flacid willies. I think he's the only illustrator that I've accepted work from that sports a subliminal spurting cock in it! Don't worry, it was in context. None of .net's readers seemed to notice (or complain). Anyway if you take the time to meander around his site you'll see just how wicked his humour is. Enjoy...

This is a great little project that a lot of blogs and sites are picking up on: Little People. It shows some great tiny sculptures of people going about there business in London. These are then placed in the environment they are mimicing. Not exactly sure I've ever seen a commuter being attacked by a hungry fly before (but its a great pic). You need to click on the pics to see a larger scale photo to really appreciate the affect of scale. I remember once thinking of taking an inflatable pig and frog around town and shooting their escapades. But then I sobered up! Well, I was a student at the time.

This is quite an old image of Scott Hansen's that I love. It appeared as a cover image for Computer Arts magazine back in 2005. However its an image that really stuck in my mind. Unfortunately his site is in Flash so I can't link you straight to it. Just navigate to his print section and its near the end of the top row of boxes. Anyway its great when you know someones thought, "I know, I'll stick a bloody great big stag on the cover. Should get the punters rolling in!". Scott's appeared in the mag countless times and I've often felt like poaching him for work. Maybe some day soon...

Sam has updated his portfolio site with new images and a brand spanking new site design. He's gone for the hot pink and charcoal look - very smart. As ever the site is bursting with hot images and websites (he's a web designer too!).

Gavin Strange's pet project "Pillboy" has reached the magic number of 100 contributions (and rising). I might just have to have a go. Gavin seems to be going from strength to strength, with lots of top bods asking him to take part in projects and collaborations. All well earned in my opinion. Find out more on his blog...

I've lost count of the amount of times I've asked this guy to produce work for me. I first used him when I started on Internet Works about eight years ago. Back then David sent his work through by post. It was great getting such a big package from the postie because in those days David did everything on artboard using acrylics. Yes, a real painting that we had to get scanned. Since then David has made the transition to digital since all us designers want everything yesterday and delivered direct to our email inbox. This mini gallery shows some of the work that David is capable of (though it seems a bit out of date!). His work is instantly recognisable. Though it becomes fairly obvious that David doesn't really like websites, which is a shame, as it stops people like me pointing in his direction and saying, "That's him, that's the one you want". Hopefully someone will drag him into this century and introduce him to the shinyweb. Anyway, he's still producing brilliant artwork for me today - there are some people you can always rely on.

YAKA: the home of illustrator, painter and bristol vagabond Finn Neary. Weird and wonderful concoctions from just down the road. Yep, I've commissioned him in the past and he's since done some work for Computer Arts. His characters are drawn as if you're viewing them through an acid haze (man!) and they look perfect on the boards he designs.

Zombie Dollars is a collaboration site set up by Nik Holmes. Its been running for a few months now but I keep getting sidetracked so haven't had chance to give it a post. I've mentioned Nik's work before but this new site has contributions from some of the cream of the visual world; Jon Burgerman, TADO, and Frazer Irving, amongst a host of others. I think I need to have a go. Get over there and submit your own design pronto.

This is a guy I have used a few times for my old mags (Internet Works and .net). I first came about Preshaa's work when looking around for someone to do an illustration. I was nosing around on Pixelsurgeon and spotted him as one of the contributors to the site. Wandering over to his personal site I found page after page of brilliant sketches, drawings and paintings. His work has a certain dream-like quality to it, almost like childrens story book illustrations, but often the topic and content is far more twisted. I'm just wondering whether he could do a hard-nosed poker scenario for me, hmmm *scratches chin*...
