This site of Elly Walton's work is very exhilarating, full of fun and a wicked sense of humour - always something that I love in an illustrators work.

Rooster Iglehart sent me an email to see if I would like his work. I most certainly do. Have a nose around his site and enjoy the wonderfully dark and quirky linework he produces. This Elvis Costello caricature is my favourite. Though I'm not sure I'm a big fan of scrolly-scrolly horizontal image galleries!

Cornell University has put together a visual library entitled, "The Fantastic in Art and Fiction". There are some amazing images contained in this collection, not least this cheerful chappy on the right...

Here's an absolutely stunning set of photos: jan von holleben - dreams of flying. I've seen this sort of thing done before but never with such a sense of fun.Posted by Carlton | permalink | 0 comments

Here's an artist I'll have to investigate further. I've always been a bit of a sucker for images that bend the eyes perception of what is real. As a teenager I was very into Dali and Escher - they appealed to my analytical mind, even if they are very popular mainstream artists. Saper Galleries shows an awful lot of his work and from my quick Google exploration so do a lot of other sites (like here and here). I might have to check out his book to get a better look at his craftsmanship.

According to Arstechnica, Adobe are doing what everybody expected them to do. That is, they are not going to develop GoLive or Freehand any longer. They won't be totally abandoning them however, so existing users shouldn't worry too much. I'm just glad I work mainly in Illustrator, I always found the Freehand interface a bit awkward.
