This is no laughing matter

Apparently losing your head is art at the Royal Academy. So, next time you send an artwork there, please remember to include instructions plus a photo of the completed sculpture.

Elly Walton

Voom Voom Ellie Walton artworkThis site of Elly Walton's work is very exhilarating, full of fun and a wicked sense of humour - always something that I love in an illustrators work.

Rooster Iglehart

Elvis Costello caricatureRooster Iglehart sent me an email to see if I would like his work. I most certainly do. Have a nose around his site and enjoy the wonderfully dark and quirky linework he produces. This Elvis Costello caricature is my favourite. Though I'm not sure I'm a big fan of scrolly-scrolly horizontal image galleries!

Pirate photoHere's an absolutely stunning set of photos: jan von holleben - dreams of flying. I've seen this sort of thing done before but never with such a sense of fun.

Rob Gonsalves

Rob Gonsalves artworkHere's an artist I'll have to investigate further. I've always been a bit of a sucker for images that bend the eyes perception of what is real. As a teenager I was very into Dali and Escher - they appealed to my analytical mind, even if they are very popular mainstream artists. Saper Galleries shows an awful lot of his work and from my quick Google exploration so do a lot of other sites (like here and here). I might have to check out his book to get a better look at his craftsmanship.

GoLive and Freehand, the end is nearer?

CS2 boxshot
According to Arstechnica, Adobe are doing what everybody expected them to do. That is, they are not going to develop GoLive or Freehand any longer. They won't be totally abandoning them however, so existing users shouldn't worry too much. I'm just glad I work mainly in Illustrator, I always found the Freehand interface a bit awkward.
I've dabbled with Coreldraw in the past because it had certain tools I wanted to try, but hated every moment. Has anyone got any experience with Microsofts new app, Expression?
