Another illustrator I use repeatedly for .net is Human Descent. He produces images for our regular 'Name Game' spot, where he has to represent the daft domain names we throw at him. His best work in my opinion is when he takes one end of an animal and mashes it onto the head of another beast. You've probably seen his work as they often go viral, being emailed across every open plan office in the land. HD also runs a b3ta beater site called Tattyworld where you can see plenty of equally brilliant work from other hardened photoshoppers like NobbyNobody and Rev-jesse-c.

I first saw Richards work way back when I worked on a title called Internet Works, maybe 7 years ago now. His style worked well in a mag that was mainly illustrated by concepts and I found myself using him again and again. That's probably because he always managed to hit the nail on the head when presented with a brief. When you check out his portfolio you soon find that this guy gets some great clients and produces some stunning imagery. Although a lot of his work is very vibrant and full of energy I guess this image (left) is my favourite - although its possibly his most tranquil one. What that says about me I don't know.Posted by Carlton | permalink | 0 comments

I got an email from Aaron Minier touting his skills. He's a recent(ish) graduate based in Indiana. Richard May pointed him in my direction. Although I've not had anything to offer him at the moment Aaron is on my pile of 'Hope to Use in the Future' artists. His comic work is great, full of hero chops, curvy heroines and moody set pieces, but its the looseness of the illustrations that really grab me. His love of 007 is admirable too - one to watch.
