I bought a book the other day. I tend to find myself browsing the design shelves of the local Waterstones every now and then. The usual flashy offerings present themselves proclaiming to be the design of NOW but I rarely shell out for their overpriced wares. However this book, "Universal Principles of Design", fairly leapt off the shelf and begged me to take it home. Its a plain looking tome so might easily be overlooked. Having skimmed through it I can see that this is a top notch purchase and one of immense value. It contains 100 of the most important concepts of design theory from a wide range of disciplines. Though they may not all be specific to your chosen skill set, they do strengthen your overall understanding of the world around you. This is a book to reinvigorate anyone's creativity. The Amazon reviews may at first look seem suspiciously effusive but believe me they are, in fact, accurate. I'm a bit gutted that I paid full whack at Waterstones but then found it a tenner cheaper on Amazon. I'm glad I bought it though.
